This was a simple project. My basement freezer runs on a sensitive GFCI outlet that I also use for various power tools and extension cords that go outside. Needless to say I've found the outlet tripped a few times and got very lucky that I didn't lose anything in the freezer. So I installed a simple Pi Zero and glued it to the side of the freezer and powered it from the same outlet, it has a web page and nothing more. I have an uptime bot on a different server that constantly pings everything I care about and if any of them go offline I get an mail, so if JackFrost goes offline due to a power outage I will get an email to know my food is in danger. Solid piece of mind.
